This page presents some of the data I have collected when working with Swedish historical labor market statistics. The datasets are free to use for anyone who’s interested.

 

From Various Sources

Swedish National Unemployment Rate According to Available Sources, 1911–2010, version 1.0

Info: Data on the national unemployment rate in Sweden from five different sources covering most of the years from 1911 to 2010.
[Zipped Folder] – Including Excel and Stata 14 file.
[Excel file] – Including data and Stata compatible table.
[Stata File] –  Data file containing each series (compatible with Stata 14).
 
 

 

Geocoded Dataset on Strikes in Sweden 1859–1938

This dataset was compiled within the project “From Sundsvall to Saltsjöbaden: A Regional Approach to Strikes and Protests in the Swedish Labor Market 1859-1938” and is available from the Swedish National Data Service here.

 

From The Public Labor Exchanges

Swedish Public Labor Exchange Data by County, 1914–1975, version 1.0 

Info: Data for some or all years on the number of applications, applicants, vacancies and filled vacancies.
[Zipped Folder] – Including Excel and Stata 14 file.
[Excel File] – Including original data, a table with counties in columns using the geographical counties of 1968–1996 and Stata compatible table.
[Stata File] –  Data file using the geographical counties of 1968–1996 (compatible with Stata 14).
 
 

 

Swedish Public Labor Exchange Data by Industry, 1916–1946, version 1.0 

Info: Data for some or all years on the number of applications, applicants, vacancies and filled vacancies.
[Zipped Folder] – Including Excel and Stata 14 file.
[Excel file] – Including original data, a table with standardized industries in columns and Stata compatible table.
[Stata File] –  Data file with standardized industries (compatible with Stata 14).
